Tier 2: Green Compliance Trustmarks

World Trustmark and Trade Alliance (WTA) is establishing Green Compliance Trustmarks as the second tier of its Three‑Tier Trust Ecosystem to recognize enterprises meeting environmental and regulatory standards. The Nansha government‑supported project in Shenzhen serves as the foundational case, illustrating a model where government backing enables free enterprise participation and broad uptake. WTA will document tailored approaches for different jurisdictions to ensure the trustmark is practical, credible, and adaptable across regulatory environments. Publishing progress and success stories will strengthen WTA’s international brand and encourage replication.

Objective — WTA & Shenzhen Institute of Standards and Technology (SIST) Collaboration: WTA proposes a collaborative program with SIST to co‑create a harmonized trustmark framework, verification protocols, and a shared registry for recognition across member markets. The joint project will combine WTA’s convening role with SIST’s technical and market expertise to pilot trustmarks that balance rigor with accessibility for SMEs. The framework will include guidance on verification, renewal cycles, and cross‑recognition mechanisms to enable “one certification, multiple recognition.” This collaboration aims to accelerate green compliance adoption across the region.

How to join: WTA invites environmental agencies, certification bodies, corporate members, and sustainability service providers to participate in the Green Compliance Trustmarks working group. Members and partners can contribute to pilot design, verification standards, and jurisdictional adaptation workshops. The Secretariat will circulate formal invitations and expert recruitment notices before the end of the month to assemble a diverse, multidisciplinary team. Early participants will help define the trustmark’s value proposition and pilot metrics.

Support and funding: Financial backing is essential to underwrite verification pilots, stakeholder consultations, and public awareness campaigns for the trustmark. WTA welcomes funding commitments from members, philanthropic partners, and corporate sponsors to support Secretariat operations and pilot implementation. Donor support will enable free or subsidized participation for enterprises in lower‑income jurisdictions and ensure robust, transparent verification processes. Funding opportunities and sponsorship tiers will be detailed in the upcoming project announcement.
